Why Dogbot?

Lots of great scheduling bots already exist, so what's the point of Dogbot? Well, as great as all those bots are, I didn't want to have to schedule an event every time I asked the bois if they wanted to game tonight (no hate, those bots are still great for scheduling). Dogbot keeps things simple - set a game, preferred player count (e.g. 5 for valorant), and optionally a time; that's it. Just wait for your friends to reply with yes, no, or maybe. I don't need my minecraft sessions blocked out on my Google Calendar. If this sounds like something you'd like, then Dogbot is perfect for you! Dogbot also has lots of other convenient features to complement your gaming needs: polls, predictions, and minecraft server tracking, just to name a few.

Another issue Dogbot aims to solve is commands flooding the chat; nearly every command has an optional 'hide' parameter (or are hidden by default) that lets only you see the results. No more "bot-commands" channels needed! Below are some of Dogbot's most notable commands.

• /fetch-gamers send an interaction to see if your friends want to game with you! Reply with yes, no, or maybe (with your estimated availability if applicable). Gives XP for levels and gives prediction points if you interact with it. Also supports timezones to avoid confusion if you and your friends don't live in the same place. Note this command is not intended for scheduling, it's more for same-day gaming sessions. Dogbot can also automatically mentioned a role if you set /fetch-role {role: <any_role>}, that way all the gamers in your server know you want to game.

• /mc-status gets the status of your favorite minecraft server. Have it automatically retrieve a server with mc-add-server or input your own. Use it to check if your friend's server is up instead of logging on to check or constantly asking. You can also check if your friend is logged on! Although that does not work on bigger servers like Hypixel.

• /mc-list-servers lists name and IP of your top 10 favorite servers (added with mc-add-server). Optionally press a button to get the status of all 10 servers at once! But that might take a while...

• /prediction create a prediction to bet points on. A surefire way to get tons of points is bet on "no" when asked if you are going to win your next game. Points do nothing currently, future plans for reedeemable stuff.

• /poll create an anonymous poll with up to 5 options for a set amount of time. Gives live number of votes on each option.

• /magic8 Dogbot uses a magic8 ball to make a prediction for you. He thinks its a tennis ball don't tell him.

Data collections transparency

Dogbot is open source, so you can verify that only the absolute essentials are collected. Dogbot needs to collect discord user IDs, usernames, and server names so I can link data in the database. If I didn't do that, Dogbot wouldn't have cool user statistics like tracking how many times you've said yes or no to gaming, giving you XP, or tracking prediction points. No other user info is collected, Dogbot is not here to serve you tailored ads or a for you page. Only to play fetch.
